Co-production working group

A working group of service users, carers, local community groups and MCPG members which meets monthly, online.

The group aims to:

  • Build relationships between researchers, mental health professionals, people with lived experience and the wider community to develop a wider strategy for future engagement in South London.
  • Provide a forum to discuss and produce recommendations to change the way mental health professionals are trained in South London, so that they are better prepared to meet the needs of the communities they serve.
  • Co-create and deliver teaching materials for current and future mental health professionals.

Projects:

Health Education England funded curriculum review of the Maudsley Training Programme for psychiatrists.

King’s College London Race and Inclusive Education Fund project to develop teaching materials for the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.

Membership

Current members include representatives from Black Thrive, SLaM Recovery College, Kindred Minds, Lambeth and Southwark Mind and Account CIC alongside mental health professionals and researchers from MCPG.
